Vijayawada: Mounting its criticism against the TDP-led NDA Government, YSR Congress Party has condemned serious concern over increase in spate of attacks on Opposition activists and alleged negligence of security being provided to former Chief Minister and Pulivendula MLA YS Jagan Mohan Reddy when he visited Vinukonda to express condolences to the bereaved family members of Rashid, who was allegedly hacked to death by a TDP activist.
YSRCP alleged that the government allocated an old bulletproof vehicle to the party president. During the visit to Vinukonda in Palnadu district, the bulletproof car broke down. The AC also didn’t function forcing Jagan to go by another private vehicle, the party said, adding the security was suddenly downgraded overnight.
YSRCP said not only problems were created by the police in the smooth movement of Jagan’s convoy but also stopped journalists following him.
Strongly decrying the gruesome killing of Rashid, a YSRCP activist on Wednesday night allegedly by TDP activist Jaleel as part of political vendetta, Jagan said on Friday said the TDP-led Government has been meting out a step-motherly treatment to Jagan after the formation of the new government.
Earlier, Jagan dashed off letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking action against attempts to muzzle the voice of the Opposition amid stout denial of allegations by AP Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha.
The police said the murder was a result of personal enmity and ruled out any political motive behind it.
In a posting on X (formerly Twitter), Jagan said Andhra Pradesh is in chaos under the TDP Government with murders, rapes and political vendetta to suppress the YSRCP and sought a special investigation by the Central agencies. He said “Andhra Pradesh is under Demonic rule. Law and order is nowhere to be seen.”
